So if it’s your first time to learn how to shoot, it is important that you start learning the basics first. Before becoming a master, you have to start as a beginner. Here are some of the rifle range shooting basics that you always keep in mind.

The Familiarization

If you wanted to shoot right in a rifle range, the first thing that you should do is to get yourself familiar with the rifle. You need to get the right information about the rifle, how it works and get familiar with all its important parts. How would you be able to use a rifle without having the idea about it and how it actually works?

You also have to know that there are several types of rifles available. And every type works differently from another, depending on its caliber and power. For instance, semi-automatic rifles differ from a lever action in terms of its firing mechanism.  And that’s something that you have to learn more about. You might also get yourself aware of some of the better equipment.

The Basics

In order to become good at shooting, you should with the basics as follows:

Holding the rifle. When holding the rifle, hold it firmly and make sure that you grip it right. Depending on the type of rifle you’re using, you need to place your thumb and index finger on their right position. It’s when you hold right, you’ll be able to align the sight to the target.

Aiming. Since rifles also have various sight system, you need to know how to aim it right to hit your target. Either you use an open sight or a scope sight, make sure that you know the proper ways of aiming accurately.

Pulling the trigger. You probably think that pulling the trigger is that easy. But it’s not as simple as pulling it and bam! Some called it pressing the trigger that pulling it. The main key and the simplest tip is this, continue to press the trigger until you feel the resistance.

Shooting Etiquette

For your own safety and protection when you’re in a rifle range, you need to follow some shooting etiquettes.

  • Do not talk or interrupt someone who’s in the middle or trying to position to shoot.
  • Keep your fingers away from the trigger until you’re getting ready to shoot.
  • Don’t touch other people’s gun or rifle in the area.
  • Just shoot on the target set. Avoid shooting on other’s target.
  • Do not point your gun to anybody. Always put it on a safe direction.
